The Portland Xmas Fair was AWESOME!
so much fun!
Here I am (on the right) with my pal Star (Stellar Sweets). She kept me jacked up on sugar all day so I could keep up with the crowd. So fun!!

In other news, I have a few new little Beardies to unveil soon....

This weekend is the Cropped Out Festival!
The dudes at Drag City & Sophmore Lounge Records have cooked up the most amazing line up of musicians for the weekend. I am super excited to be vending my little arts there as well!
So come on!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Went to Pitchfork Festival in Chicago this weekend to see Pavement & a few other bands, but mostly Pavement...
I though it was a good idea to break in my new docs...which was a painful success!

(Laura Fauna, Mary Levinsky & I checking out PJ's Pickles @ Shotgun fest!)
photo by Tyler Bissmyer of the Courier Journal more pics here!
Shotgun Fest has left me with a weirdly spotted back sunburn & so many ideas! We all sweated it out and made it through a super long day!

I am actually going to start sewing again, I think its time that I put down the pliers & scissors & start stitching. I go through these phases, and even though  I say I am going to do it...I more than likely wont. BUT I have put it into writing so we will see if it sticks.

This is going to be a great event! So much diverse stuff & its all from amazing talented people! In conjunction with the First Friday Trolley Hop downtown, so pop on over!

Friday, June 25, 2010

(Russell Veggies are my favorite vendors- they even brought bunnies once!)

The New Albany Farmer's Market in Indiana is my all time favorite market in the area, I am biased though because my mom has sold there for the past 3 years so I have gotten to know the vendors. But honestly, they have preserved the idea of a market where local farmers and bakers come together to nurture a relationship with the community.

this great poster was designed by kinship press & they are pretty awesome!

Saturday will be quite an amazing day.

This is the truth because Shotgunfest is one of my favorite events of the summer! I used to live in Germantown & I loved it so. It's great when people visit from out of town & I have to explain a 'shotgun house' to them. Makes me love this little town of mine.
Plus--last year they had a bologna eating contest, it was so beautiful.
I will have a booth set up selling TONS of new leather jewelry & a rack of vintage clothes just cause I have so many layin around...
My man-friend will be playing with his band Prairie Wisdom along with other local bands!
see ya there!

( this one is Avery & I think i want to keep him...)

I have been making Weirdy Beardys nonstop!

I have put em all in the shoppe too, which is rare cause I am usually quite lazy about it. The whirl of both the fan & the A/C have hypnotized me & made me quite productive.I tend to hibernate in the summer, hiding out in the cool, refusing to wear minimal amounts of clothes (or see others in minimal clothing) & sandals...then flip flops....oh agony!

Now that it is officially summer, all i want to do is go get margaritas from my favorite place.

It is divine,I tell you. The secret is that all they put in them is tequila & lime juice but I swear there must be something else, cause i think about them every day.
Last year, Daniel & I went and I had one.  I was having fun, laughing & having a grand ol' time...then i drank another...I started being weird, crying & then I had three....after losing all the delicious food I just ate, I proceeded to tell him my life story. Even today (almost a year later) I will start a story by "hey did I ever tell you the time I blah blah blah" and He will say that yes, I have told him that night i drank 3 margaritas...dang.

I love summer. Let me rephrase..I love the fun that summer brings, but i seriously hate the heat & paying extra money to keep my apartment cool. But I had my first grilled hamburger today & it was legendary.

There are so many events this summer though! For one, this coming weekend I am selling ALL kinds of un-art-related things at the annual Vine Street Yard Sale. Its awesome because a) its indoors in the air conditioning b) its gonna be huge & I can buy other things I dont need and c) I get to use my new truck to haul a bunch of junk to and fro! Its Saturday from 7:30 am- 2pm in the basement ( I think) of Vine Street Baptist Church. Louisville people need to go, I went last year & it was so awesome it was overwhelming!

Sunday, May 23, 2010

The Louisville Water Tower is such a cool place! At the Buy Local First Art Fair today it was super hot & everyone seemed to be melting, but we prevailed! It's great that Louisville is the kind of city that gets such a huge response out of local artists & makers to show off their talents & that so many people showed their support by coming out!

Sometimes I want to move away, then there are days when I swell with pride for this city.

Story: Daniel & I went to El Mundo on Frankfort Ave one Wednesday & the place was packed so I told this couple who was waiting for a table that they could join us at our table (there were 2 empty chairs..)...they sat with us and we chatted about Louisville & all the hidden gems! I told them about the fair today AND THEY CAME! It was awesome!

I feel pretty proud to be here.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Im trying to get back into the groove of  art + work + play. its hard to juggle all three, but im learning.

This weekend was awesome at the Butchertown Art Fair! I was super tired, but plowed through and met TONS of cool people!

I haven't seen these girls in years. We go way back to the Student Art League days. It was like no time had passed either!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

So many artists & a organic market this Saturday at Rainbow Blossom!
Come have fun & find something great for mom!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Daniel & I went to the Georgetown Drive In this weekend to get away from the Derby insanity in Louisville. This place is the only family operated drive in left!

They are attempting to "go digital" which I hate, but I guess it has to be done. But I still dont mind when the film breaks mid-movie & has to be spliced together quickly..when the horns starts blowing when it takes too long, the laser pointers at the screen during intermission...
Its perfect.
